The videos of all eight Holiday Train Displays are now available on a single DVD. Members can pick up their copy at the Spring Meeting on March 24th or at the Annual Outing this summer

The videos are courtesy of Jim Alberty and John Jackson. They will be shown at our events and used to help recruit new members.

Railroading at Cumberland Fair Septermber 27 through October 3

The 2015 Cumberland Fair is open from 9am to 9pm from September 27 through October 3.

Both the 470 Railroad Club and the Maine 3Railers have layouts and information at the Fair.

Moose River Railroad in Bar Harbor, Maine - video

Come along for an engineer's view perspective in this video tour of the Moose River Railroad, an HO scale model railroad featuring Maine Central, Boston and Maine, and Bangor and Aroostook and New Haven themes. The layout, built by Earl Brechlin, is located in Bar Harbor, Maine. I have always enjoyed the 'electrical' part of playing with trains. So it came as no surprise that I wanted to model "Yarmouth Junction" and enjoy watching my Maine Central and Amtrak trains taking turns automatically starting and stopping at the junction crossing. If Scott has the space in a future issue of the IronHorse I can go into the 'How' but for now a short video shows the 'What' of what it looks like.

Water Garden Trains

It has been a good year for life in the Water Garden if you are a fish, a frog or a water plant, but not if you are a small train engine. But Labor Day and almost a week of sunshine seem to have changed that as the little engines of Littleville Falls Railroad finally had their day in the sun!

Finally a little sunshine.

At last I got to run my trains (not Thomas and Trolly) but mine own. I think I will just enjoy them for a while. That is, before I try to connect the indoors to the outdoor. This year I will be happy to pack them up and bring them to an open house.

Paul's Layout

It was a pleasure to stop by Paul's house today and see his tremendous collection of G-scale trains and equipment. After a tour of the layout and his indoor setup that is great in its self, we sat on the deck and enjoyed the sounds and sights of his railroad. He has so many interesting details that you could never see them all. He comes across unusual items and uses them very creatively to make additions to his layout. Plus he has lots of interesting stories to tell. When you consider all the good deeds he does for children and the elderly you realize what a great ambassador he is!

OK, I am a Blog Hog

One more time! I promise to try and cut back but I can't help myself. This one is why you want to have grand children. Both the trains belong to grandsons but I get to play with them! That reminds me, I am using a MRC transformer (The important thing is the handle lifts off) perfect for the youngest who likes to "crank it up". He gets the stop/start control but that's all. Grandpa's trains are still safe 'inside'.

Yes, they did arrive!

*** It was great, the long walk down to the mail box and then at a distance I see this package in a bag hung from the mail box. Yes, the Gandy Dancers arrived. They are very nice, I love them. A large array of what looks like authentic tools that they used. So, I got out my old (I think it is Hartland Engine) because it is noisy and celebrated their arrival!

Thomas gets the honor

The littlest engine got to be the first to try out the new track and it worked fine! Just in time for Memorial Day. I have so much more to do that will keep me occupied for quite a while. But, I wanted to see a train run by Memorial Day and I was happy to get that far.

A ride on the Littleville Falls R.R.

I got this idea from "The Deere's" video and thought it would be fun to try and record a ride on my indoor layout in North Yarmouth.

I hesitate to post this because it was the first video clip I ever made. My layout is setup to go outside as the tracks are switched right up to the basement window. (3rd one down) But before I make a lot of mistakes I want to talk to and see what tips other MGRS members have. I think it will be time well spent.
