Sue, I and the Boys visited Alna and rode the train today. It was cool and overcast but pleasant enough.
We hopped off the train at the Alna Center Station and walked north along the track past the end of the newly laid rail and along the old road bed until we came to the missing Carlton Brook bridge, at the sight of the "Masons Wreck" of 1905. The old road bed is quite visible but suffers from a few washouts and downed trees.
There were Easter eggs hidden for the kids around Alna center. The guys at the museum do a first class job and have a lot of fun too! by the way, the train was only $3.00 for adults today, but never very expensive even in high season.
There is a chance to play trains again in two weeks, this is Spring Work Weekend. The plan is to ballast and tamp the track laid by volunteers last fall.

Hi Eric, It sounded like you and the family all had a great time! I was hoping you might post a picture and you got No. 10 looking 'real good'.
thanks, John
Eric,
Boy, nothin beats the 'real thing'...
The good folks over to Alna have really worked hard and have made great progress over the years. They have really kept the idea that younger people (children) are really important to the survival and future of historical railroading. The family oriented train days and rides are great. Mrsdeere and I try to visit at least once a year. Thanks Eric for sharing your family’s day on the WW&F.
