White River JCT
I remember as a kid hearing a lot about White River Junction as I traveled to Vermont every summer to visit relatives. I recently got an email from a good friend who has just travelled through the area.
Hi John,
Greetings from VT! We took the Amtrak Vermonter out of White River Junction (aka WRJ around here) to go down to Baltimore for my mom's 80th birthday. It was a pretty good trip, and this end of it was very convenient. We arrived in Baltimore about 10 minutes late, pretty good timing for a 10 hour trip. Shuttling to the airport to grab a rental car and get to our hotel less than 5 miles from the train station took another 2 hours. :-( Aieeee....
I'm attaching a few pix from the WRJ area. It was hopping busy place back in the heyday of train travel, but things are looking pretty tired around here now. The pix are a couple of modern trains, and a couple of vintage trains.
