I am happy with it

* * *Remembering "Ed's Rule" which is "If your happy with it, then it is right", It must have been right for me to attempt the decal project, because I was very pleased with the results of my first car. I finished it up this morning and took it right outside in the beautiful sunshine (at last) to take it's picture. I will bring it along to Ed and Brenda's Open House in case anyone else is interested in making up their own car.

John, looks great. I can't wait to see it at the Deere's open house. BTW, why does the car need to be white for your decals to work?

Ray, The decal works fine, but color of the car shows through and tints everything so that the colors do not look good. It seems to take a white background to make the rest of the decal colors appear true. I guess it really is transparent.

I agree with Ray. The decaling looks great. Did you use Barry's technique (which I missed at Carl and Pat's, and I'm hoping he reprises at Ed and Brenda's)?

Thanks Scott! I am using a water slide transfer decal that I made off my computer. Barry has a vinyl decal that he peels the back off and then applies with a special tool. It is the same idea but a different medium.

I've used the water slide approach, but looked in vain for a way to produce a white background. Turns out you can't, at least with an ink jet, because the inks (in all but very expensive equipment) can't produce white. If Barry is using the same vinyl that sign makers use (which I've tried), it does come in white, though I've found that tiny letters can be a royal pain to pull off the backing.

Hi Scott,
I have not sent for it (yet) I probably will because I found that they now do make an inkjet paper with a white background. I cut this from their web site: Up to now, I have only used the 'clear' paper. see below.
* Clear Paper: White backing paper with clear lacquer film.
* White Paper: Blue backing paper with white lacquer film.
hear is the site:

BTW. If you have a 'Logo' send me a pic of it. John
