A Star is Born

The Daytona 500 is the Super Bowl of  NASCAR Racing.  It was won by a young man  named Trevor Bayne who turned 20 the day before the race and he also was driving his first race under NASCAR.
Yes, he drives faster than ACELA.

Big Bang!!

Sent in by web reporter Denneth Lee and friends in NH.

Attached quotes and stories.  I am not sure when this happened:
Ethanol pics - OH wreck on NS
...Have not heard final results but all initial talk from those in the know is that it most likely was caused by a Broken Rail
It is a good thing there was no one around.  There was a farm supply place 150 yards from the main track.  There is one picture that shows it.  What you are looking at used to be brand new hay wagons all lined up in the row.  After the bleve, it reminds me of Hiroshima .  It is a good thing this happened at 0220, in a rural area of Ohio .  If this had happened near a city it would have been a catastrophy.  It is just starting to calm down now.

.ARCADIA — About 25 rail tanker cars loaded with ethanol burned after a freight train derailed this morning less than two miles west of Arcadia.
No one has been hurt, authorities said.
About 20 families evacuated their homes up to 1.5 miles from the Norfolk Southern tracks near the intersection of Hancock County 216 and Cass Township 247. Arcadia is about seven miles northeast of Findlay..."
"...The derailment and fire were reported at about 2:15 a.m. and witnesses said a “big ball of fire” lit up the sky briefly at about 3:20 a.m..."
About six tanker cars filled with ethanol were still connected to the burning tankers this morning and one was engulfed in flames, said Jim Breyman, spokesman for the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Hello Tampa!

I was looking at FGRS The Tampa Bay Division (Where Ivan & Gerry and Barry & Buckie) winter.  I think I saw a picture of Gerry (below).  Nice looking layout at a members home last month.  I liked it because they have goldfish.  Right now they are enjoying the best of both worlds. But pretty soon they will be back up here, where they really want to be!  Hello to the BBIG's!

I like the different levels.  I wonder if you can do that with styrofoam, that is what we need at the Mall.

The FedEx Truck arrived!

It was like the "Christmas Story" when the boy unwraps his BB rifle,  The excitement!  The anticipation!  When you see the FedEx truck coming you run out to meet the driver.  You pretend to be cool, but you can't wait to get back inside and grab the scissors and start ripping open the package.
Wow, it looks great!  But, it's kind of small.  But it looks great! Oh yes, the doors do open.  And the trolley actually works (like I need that, but it's nice to know).  Anyway, I love it and it is extra special to me.  Lots of good memories. My dad drove them during his long career with the MTA.   I rode them all the time as a kid an as a college student both above ground and through the tunnels.  The graphics and details are very good and the lighting is spectacular.  I love UPS and FedEx!
Here are some pictures:

Aristo-Craft new PCC Streetcar

I have always wanted one of these and I finally have one on the way!  I had to look to see if I could find any videos on YouTube and I did see a couple which I posted below:
Video-1
Video-2
They look very well lighted (20 led's)  Plus they have 'brake lights' which come on when the voltage is reduced.
Looks like I am going to have a buy a bunch of people now.
