SCGRR New Construction

Here are three of pics of SCGRR's new "Blueberry Bridge". It's a dual track Home-grown design to go over the "Blueberry" patch at SCGRR's expanson site. It will be part of "Phase III" of SCGRR.

The idea came from one of Carl's bridges, although it is different from his.

Ed, You do nice work! Plus, just like a real bridge, it is built with a specific purpose in mind. I like the dual track feature. Looking forward to hearing more about 'Phase III'. Looks like you are off to a good start!

Were there are no side walls to help strengthen, I like the dado and splines idea on this project. Not only does this make it easier to align the parts, but gives it much added stability. Great classic look also. Great Job!!

Hey Ed

Do you have a tractor to grace your bridge?

Sorry folks! No, on the tractor!

Great job Ed, and not a pin or brad in site. Superb workmanship too! Can't wait to see it over the fresh ready to pick blueberries!

Oh, and I can let you borrow my John Deere tractor, since it has finally safely made it off of the turntable...

BTW, I couldn't enlarge the third picture you added, like I could the first two. Any idea why?

Ray,
Maybe because I did a cut-n-paste on the other picture and this one????

Ray, I re-did the pic on the post so you can enlarge it now. NOW you'll be able to see evidence of the use of PINS.

Ed, Thanks!

BTW, you should consider writing and article for either the Website Modeling Tips, or the Iron Horse on your dual track 'Blueberry Bridge', since you appear to be using some unique/interesting techniques...

Ray,
Sorry, but I won't be able to do a piece on this bridge.
I did not document any of the construction. It was a "build on the fly" project as I needed to span a space during phase 3 construction. It is not a winter project and is already installed. I have been very lax in publishing progress on phase 3.
Sorry. Maybe in the future, on some other project.

Ed,

OK, I understand.

In the future, please keep in mind that we all have a lot of knowledge that can significantly advance the state of garden railroading in Maine by simply sharing that know how wherever/whenever we can. The Website and Iron Horse are just two examples that many of the members use, and as such are very good vehicles for spreading that know how.

BTW, you will see three examples in the upcoming Iron Horse...

Thanks for listening/reading...

Hey there SCGRR, You are not all bad! Just to let you know that we do appreciate your blog contributions and your good pictures and videos plus your sense of humor!
We can't all go south so we need each other to get through the winter months. Thanks and you keep up the good effort.
